Why does it seem like food recalls are out of control this year?

Taylor Farms recalled its iceberg lettuce after a cyclospora outbreak, while the FDA seized more than one million eggs from Midwest Poultry Services over possible salmonella contamination, shipments that reached Kroger and regional stores in the South and Southwest. The company also withdrew over a dozen jalapeño-based products, including guacamole and salsa, after Coast Citrus Distributors recalled fresh peppers for salmonella.
