Why MCP Was Always a Bad Idea
MCP, released by Anthropic in November 2024, was designed to let agents access external services but quickly suffered from context bloat as users added many servers with multiple tool schemas. As LLMs advanced, they can now execute code, compose scripts, and call APIs directly—reducing the need for MCP servers. The industry is moving toward standard HTTP API usage with agent-specific headers and authentication, rendering most MCP servers obsolete.
