Why open source rocks – a new SM750 (Silicon Motion GPU) HDMI Driver

The SM750HDMIDRM driver enables a Silicon Motion SM750G10-AC PCIe card to output 2048-pixel-wide HDMI signals, with optional 2560×1080 ultrawide modes that stretch the 2048-pixel signal to a 2K monitor. It uses dithered RGB565 scanout, DMA-based eight-row uploads, and falls back to 32-bit colour if DMA fails. The DKMS package builds against Linux 6.17+ kernels, blacklists the old sm750fb driver, and requires a reboot to activate.
