Wi-Fi 8 is the first wireless upgrade in years that isn't chasing speed
Wi-Fi 8, labeled “Ultra High Reliability” by the IEEE, will retain Wi-Fi 7’s maximum data rate, 4096-QAM, 320 MHz channels and spatial-stream count, but aims for a 25% throughput boost, 25% latency reduction and 25% MPDU loss decrease under varied SINR conditions. New mechanisms such as Distributed-tone Resource Units, interference-mitigation pilots, unequal modulations per spatial stream, and P-EDCA are introduced to enhance effective throughput and reliability, especially in dense device environments.
