Woman's brain worm infection confirmed after eggs grow tails in lab test

A Filipino rice farmer experienced uncontrollable shaking caused by a cluster of parasitic worm eggs in her left frontal lobe. Doctors diagnosed the condition as neuroschistosomiasis, a rare complication resulting from an infection with the blood fluke *Schistosoma japonicum*. This parasite remains prevalent in the Philippines, China, and parts of Indonesia.
