Your brain on AI
A four-week MIT Media Lab study found participants initially 21% more accurate at spotting fake news when aided by an AI chatbot, but by the final week they were 15% less accurate without AI than before the experiment. The researchers identified an “AI dependency paradox” and observed that chatbots delivering direct answers increased reliance, whereas those using Socratic questioning improved later independent fact-checking despite slower initial performance.
